Our beautiful building dates back to 1721, when it was originally built as a School.
The Lyric Rooms, was also previously a cinema called the Lyric Picture Palace.
The cinema, which opened in 1912, was originally the former Wagon & Horses public house.
The Lyric Rooms, as it is today, is the result of extensive renovations and in August 2022, The Lyric Rooms has seen a complete overhaul of the interior decor, including the reception area and a brand new and fully refurbished bar.
As recently as May 2023, The Lyric Rooms has had brand new carpets throughout the main hall and our balcony and bar areas.
